Meet our Tutors and Staff:
Patricia F. – Expert Tutor
Patricia has a Ph.D. in Neuroscience (Hons.) from the University of Heidelberg, Germany, a Master’s degree in Biochemistry, University of Hannover, Germany and a Bachelor’s degree in Biology (Hons.) from the University of Messina, Italy. As a scientist, she has worked around the world in both academic and pharmaceutical positions where she greatly enjoyed mentoring high school, undergraduate, graduate students and research associates.
Patricia enjoys working with students very much, she has a positive attitude and a passion to assist and motivate struggling learners. She finds, from her own experience, that people learn things differently and at different paces; when students struggle with a subject, it’s usually because their learning style conflicts with the style or pace with which it is being taught. Tutoring one on one gives the opportunity to learn at the student’s optimal pace.
In her free time, Patricia enjoys traveling, playing tennis, swimming, playing piano and taking long walks with her dogs.
Glenn N. – Expert Tutor & College Admission Specialist
Glenn has a Master’s Degree in Materials Science and Engineering from Stanford, a Bachleor’s in Materials Science and Engineering from MIT and a Minor in Creative Writing. His experience spans work in semiconductor manufacturing to the research & development of new designs in the laboratory holding 2 engineering patent designs. He has taught at DeAnza Community college and is an active volunteer at The Crucible in Oakland. Glenn has always had a passion for math and science. Coming from a family of engineers and teachers his approach to tutoring stems from ensuring anyone can understand the basic principles. He is patient and understanding of the difficulties in wrapping ones head around a problem.
In his spare time, he likes to travel, hike and is an avid fan of board games and sci-fi/fantasy. He also is a beginning woodworker, a soccer fan and likes to reminisce about his college days in fencing. He is a dog person having 3 miniature dachshunds.
Hannah N. – Expert Tutor & College Admission Specialist
Hannah earned dual Bachelor’s degrees in International Studies and French from the University of Oklahoma, where she was the president of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars and participated in several tutoring and mentoring programs. After graduating magna cum laude, she spent a year in a small town in France working with young children on their English language skills. When it comes to helping students succeed, she believes that a positive attitude is key to building confidence and achieving academic goals. Her specialties include French, language arts skills, general science, psychology, reading comprehension, and history. She is also a National Merit Scholar and thus would be more than happy to work with your student on the PSAT or SAT.
In her free time, Hannah is passionate about traveling all over the world and experiencing as many different cultures as she possibly can. Closer to home, she also enjoys visiting Disneyland and collecting as many Star Wars t-shirts as she can fit in her suitcase.
Olivia H. – Expert Tutor & College Admissions Specialist
Olivia has a Bachelor of Science in Physics with minors in Russian, art, and mathematics. Though she is originally from Colorado, she spent the past year living in Baku, Azerbaijan working as a Private Tutor and then traveling through Eastern Europe with her fiance before settling in San Francisco. She has spent many years tutoring students in both one-on-one and classroom settings.
As a Physicist, and an Artist, Olivia enjoys creative methods of teaching and encouraging students to think outside the box. She also is a natural leader, driven to help young women to pursue their goals in STEM fields. She has created science workshops and founded student organizations focused on exactly this.
In her free time, you will find her running/exploring the city, reading, painting, cooking, and bothering her fiance.
Aaron R. – Expert Tutor
Aaron holds a BA in Political Science from San Francisco State University, a law degree from Golden Gate University School of Law and is currently pursuing a Masters of Arts in Teaching at the University of Southern California. Aaron’s professional experience includes legal clerkships in environmental and employment law, a congressional internship with a sitting United States Senator, and teaching at the primary and secondary grade levels. Aaron enjoys teaching the subjects of AP Us and world history, writing, AP psychology, reading comprehension, geography, social science, and reading.
In his free time, Aaron enjoys reading and writing, attending live music shows, playing the tenor saxophone and rooting for the San Francisco 49ers.
Afsana M. – Expert Tutor
Afsana has Bachelors of Science degree in Biology and is currently working toward her MBA. While completing her undergraduate coursework, she spent many years tutoring her colleagues and found great fulfillment helping them learn and grow as students. Additionally, Afsana has over 9 years of experience tutoring students from elementary through high school in biology, geometry, history, psychology, zoology, and botany. She enjoys tutoring and seeing her students succeed in the classroom. Afsana believes that every student can be successful once they have established good study skills – something she incorporates in her tutoring.
During her free time, Afsana loves traveling to new places, reading new books, hiking, and photographing nature.
Lakshmi R. – Expert Tutor
Lakshmi has a Master’s degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering with specialization in Embedded Systems and VLSI Design. She has vast experience in teaching undergraduate engineering students. Lakshmi has strong analytical and problem solving skills and she understands students’ learning styles and adopts appropriate teaching methodologies to bring out the best in each student. Lakshmi has helped students build a strong foundation skills in STEM subjects, thus contributing to their success in regular and AP courses in high school and consistent “A” grades through college. In addition to fostering mastery of course content, Lakshmi strongly believes that success at school and beyond is based on strategy, time management, and self-confidence. Her passion, patience and creative skill-set will drive her students to succeed.
In her free time she likes to learn new computer coding courses and spend time with her family and friends, especially playing with her kids.

Bea F. – Expert Tutor
Bea has a Master’s Degree in Engineering for Development from the University of Southampton U.K. and holds two Bachelors in Civil Engineering, one of which she obtained from the University of Brighton U.K. and the other from l’Université Joseph Fourier in Grenoble, France where she is originally from. She has worked in various places around the globe as a water engineer.
Bea has a passion for modeling and encouraging smart study strategies. She has tutored since high school, and has a strong passion for educating young minds. Bea specializes in the subjects of physics, chemistry, math and French. Additionally she can help you prepare for your French SAT subject test.
She has a passion for traveling, cultures, food and architecture. When she is not busy tutoring or working on her career development, she is busy food blogging.
Brian S. – Expert Tutor & College Admission Specialist
Brian graduated from Sonoma State with a degree in Statistics. While at Sonoma State, he took courses such as Introduction and Intermediate Statistics, Probability Theory, Linear Regression and Experimental Design, Calculus 1-4, Statistical Consulting, and Macro/Microeconomics.
Brian been tutoring mathematics for years; first on campus part-time and now professionally full-time. Statistics is his specialty, but he is very equipped to tutor any mathematics his students require. Brian aspires to continue his education in the upcoming years, but for now he is enjoying the rewarding work of teaching mathematics. His love for teaching stems from an understanding that teachers have the ability to have an influence on the newer generation and lifelong positive influences for students. Nothing is more satisfying than knowing that you helped somebody achieve something challenging!
When Brian is not working, he enjoys spending time in the gym, watching sports, or being outside in nature.
Winnie Y. – Expert Tutor
Winnie earned her bachelor’s degree in clinical nutrition from UC Davis. During her time there, she also pursued a minor in education and worked with middle school and high school students in science classrooms. Winnie has also spent several summers working as a teacher’s assistant at a summer enrichment camp, where she tutored students one-on-one and in small groups in a 2nd/3rd grade combination class as well as in a middle school algebra class. She also served as a substitute teacher for a 5th grade class and has experience in developing lesson plans and teaching English language arts and math to large groups of students. Winnie has always enjoyed tutoring and believes that positive reinforcement can go a long way in helping students succeed.
Megan G. – Expert Tutor
Megan is in her 3rd year at San Francisco State University, majoring in Applied Mathematics with a minor in Philosophy, and plans to earn her Master’s degree upon graduation. Megan has extensive experience with children. She has taught swimming and has been a nanny and tutor for several years. She is especially comfortable tutoring math through calculus, French, all levels of biology, all levels of chemistry, and conceptual Physics. Megan also excels in writing, Political Science, law, and anthropology. Teaching and assisting children to better understand subjects is very rewarding for her. She loves to see their confidence increase and to see them succeed in school as well as in their lives overall.
In her spare time, she enjoys being active – doing yoga, swimming, biking, tennis, and dance (ballet, jazz, hip-hop). She enjoys boating, hanging out with friends and her dog, helping people, and planning for her future. She also loves to travel and revels in different cultures.
Jessica K. – Expert Tutor
Jessica recently submitted her Ph.D. dissertation in Bioarchaeology and Egyptology at the University of California, Berkeley, and holds a M.A. in Osteology from the University of Stockholm, Sweden. In addition to conducting extensive fieldwork as a bioarchaeologist in Egypt, US and Scandinavia, she also specializes in site survey and Geographical Information Systems. She is currently a Visiting Lecturer at the Department of Near Eastern Studies at UC Berkeley, where she has taught classes in Archaeology, Anthropology, Bioarchaeology, Middle Eastern Studies and Reading and Composition. She believes students learn best when they are directly involved and invested in the discovery of their own knowledge through inquiry-based learning. Jessica enjoys tutoring history, reading and writing, psychology, biology, anatomy and physiology, mathematics and statistics. In her free time, Jessica likes traveling, scuba-diving, cooking, and spending time with family.
Alberto G. – Expert Tutor & College Admissions Specialist
Alberto studied Physics in Argentina and then came to the states and earned an MBA and a Ph.D. (Biophysics) from Purdue University in Indiana. After graduation, he has worked developing statistical models for the financial industry and the government sector. Alberto is passionate about teaching science (Physics, Chemistry, etc.), all levels of math (including Algebra, Calculus and Statistics) and foreign languages. In parallel to his business career, he has many years of tutoring and teaching experience at the high-school and at the college levels. Alberto is fluent in Spanish, German, Italian, French and Portuguese. Besides learning languages and keeping up with recent science developments, Alberto enjoys spending time in nature, jogging and hiking in the forest.
Courtney M. – Expert Tutor
Courtney holds a B.A. in French with a minor in Music and plans to continue on to become a teacher. She has years of experience tutoring students of all ages in a wide variety of subjects, including French, math, history, and English. She is passionate about teaching and traveling world, having also lived and taught in Canada and France. She believes that tutoring based on engagement, patience, and clarity helps boost students’ confidence and lead to their success.
When she is not teaching, Courtney loves to travel to new places, try new foods, and learn new instruments. She knows how to play six instruments and is currently working on her seventh.
Sonia K. – Expert Tutor
Sonia attended Boston University as Psychology major and French literature Minor. She began tutoring French and Arabic to college students on campus. After moving to the Bay Area, Sonia received a degree in Early childhood Development and completed two years of Spanish. She currently works part time at both Las Positas College Community Ed and Quarry Lane School.
A teacher and tutor for over eight years, Sonia has been creating lessons that engage all learners by applying a variety of teaching methods. In both her positions, she met with parents to keep them apprised of their child’s accomplishments and areas needing extra attention. Sonia is passionate about teaching and forge relationships with her students that help build a sense of confidence and competence.
In her spare time, Sonia loves to Zumba and listens to Pandora. If she’s not exploring her town, she’ll be visiting new countries and learning about their cultures. She also likes to spend time with her family and dog Lola.
Ebenezer N. – Expert Tutor
Ebenezer is an MIT alum who earned his BS in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, and as a result he is well versed with STEM courses. Motivated by the impact of others in his life, he tutors to enable others develop an interest in science related courses.
It is easier for the human brain to learn new information if it relates to already known information. As such, a striking aspect in Ebenezer’s tutoring technique is to create as many connects as possible to already known material. Hence, creating links to daily activities and subjects like math, chemistry, physics and biology. Ebenezer is incredibly positive and inspirational – your student can’t help but have fun while learning!
When not working, Ebenezer enjoys his hobbies that span photography, cookery, theater arts, medical technologies, chats and movies.
Jenica W. – Expert Tutor & College Admission Specialist
Jenica has a Masters’s Degree in Experimental Psychology from California State University, Fresno. With extensive experience with working as an after school teacher for three years for California Teach Fellows, where she assisted children in the Central Valley with developing learning strategies that helped them better reach classroom learning objectives. Additionally, Jenica worked with multiple school districts between the Central Valley and the Bay Area as a substitute teacher for K-12 classrooms for three years, among these districts are: Central Unified, Sanger Unified, and San Carlos Unified. She also had the pleasure to work as a Research Methods Lab Instructor for CSU Fresno for two years, where she taught applied statistical principals and psychometrics to undergraduates. Jenica enjoys assisting children on a variety of topics; such as, English, math, history, psychology, among other subjects. By identifying students learning patterns and current strategies to help guide the tutoring experience, Jenica helps students capitalize on their strengths while minimizing the appearance of their weaknesses. Jenica fosters a compassionate and well-structured learning environment, with allows a fluid and open exchange between her and the student.
In her spare time Jenica loves to walk trails around the Bay Area. She enjoys attending events within the community, like festivals, museums, art galleries that promotes unity and peace and eclectic knowledge. She loves eating exotic foods and yoga. Ultimately, Jenica enjoys socializing and experiencing life and is always up for a new adventure.
Naveed K. – Expert Tutor
Naveed has earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and Masters in Finance, which enables him to give a unique perspective to students on how Math and Science is used in Engineering and Business solutions. Naveed has years of experience tutoring all levels of students in general sciences, chemistry, physics and math. He has a deep passion for tutoring these subjects with an approach that is fundamental, basic and practical. Naveed makes concepts and methodologies very clear and assigns students to practice the concept. By developing an understanding of student needs, he tailors each tutoring program to achieve maximum benefit for the student.
Naveed is an avid sports fan both on and off the couch. When not watching cricket and baseball on TV, he spends his time golfing, playing basketball, running and hiking.
Marty L. – Expert Tutor
Marty graduated from UCLA with a Bachelor’s in Mathematics For Teaching and a Master’s in Education, and then went on to teach high school mathematics with Aspire Public Schools. Marty has loved teaching/tutoring since 6th grade when he was inspired by his teacher, who made learning feel valuable, engaging, and enjoyable. That experience set Marty on a trajectory to work in the education sector. In high school, Marty took AP Calculus AB, AP Calculus BC, AP Biology, AP American Literature, and AP English Literature, and he passed all those AP Exams. While attending UCLA, Marty participated in the California Teach program, which allowed him to regularly shadow teachers in their classrooms, and also tutored youth through the Chinatown Service Center. As a full-time math teacher, Marty loved working with students, finding ways to make difficult content accessible to them, seeing them achieve things that they didn’t know they could, and opening up their minds about the unbridled nature of mathematics as a profound and extensive art. He has now transitioned into tutoring so that he could have more time to spend with his family while continuing to be a thoughtful, devoted, and transformative educator of young people.
When not tutoring, Marty can be found studying religion, watching superhero movies, playing volleyball, or working on open (unsolved) math problems (like the Collatz Conjecture).
Henry H. – Expert Tutor & College Admission Specialist
Henry holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from UCLA. He once worked as a peer tutor at Oakland Technical High School, mentoring students in all 4 core subjects of English, math (Algebra, Trigonometry, Calculus, etc.), science, and history while tackling on a wide range of honors and AP level courses at the same time. He is also well-versed in the concepts frequently encountered in all levels of biology and chemistry. Henry has additional skills in the area of the interpretative and problem solving capability to help students tackle on Newtonian physics.
Henry has had the opportunity to take the following AP courses as a high school student: Biology, U.S. History, Calculus AB and BC, U.S. Government and Politics, English Literature and Composition, Physics C: Mechanics, Chemistry, and Statistics. Henry is enthusiastic about bringing his expertise to the table and is looking forward to tutoring young students once again in the previously mentioned core subjects as well as Spanish this time around. He seeks intuitive ways to grasp, understand, and retain knowledge of course concepts and will ensure that the student will be able to apply concepts with confidence.
During his free time, Henry partakes in photography, taking portrait, candid, and cityscape photos during occasional outings inside and outside of the Bay Area. He also partakes in various forms of tabletop games as a fun and immersive way to apply problem solving skills and to keep his mind at work.
Morgan D. – Expert Tutor
Morgan graduated from Azusa Pacific University with a Bachelors degree in Liberal Studies with an emphasis in English. Through her major, Morgan has gained experience working in different subjects such as math, history and science due to her university encouraging outside volunteer work in different schools around the Azusa community. In high school, she was a part of AVID and in her later years she became an AVID tutor. She has also gone abroad to Mongolia where she taught students the English language, and also to India where she taught teachers how to approach teaching their students and spent time running summer camps for children.
Through her experiences, Morgan has worked with students at different stages of learning, growth and development which has helped her to understand not every student is the same and each one has a unique way of learning. Her favorite things about her interactions with students are the “aha!” moments when they finally understand what they had been struggling with and seeing students reach their potential. Morgan especially loves tutoring English, writing, history, Spanish, psychology, mathematics, science and biology.
When she is not tutoring, Morgan also enjoys reading, watching T.V., making pottery and spending time with family and friends.
Jennifer M. – Expert Tutor
Jennifer graduated from UC Davis with a Bachelors degree in Modern European History, but her second love has always been mathematics which she studies to the upper division level. She has tutored students in a variety of subjects using the AVID system for many years, although for the past few years she has specialized in tutoring Math at the Middle School and High School levels. She enjoys the challenge presented by figuring out the best way for each individual student to learn, and does her best to help them be inquisitive about all subjects so they can learn why things work as opposed to strict memorization.
Jennifer spends her free time playing violin and participating in a number of historical reenactments events to help teach people of all ages learn about history. She also enjoys sewing (which is a regular challenge to her geometry skills and patience), and a variety of dancing styles including ballroom and hula.
Christine H. – Expert Tutor
Christine has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Human Resources and a minor in Psychology. Though born and raised in Pleasanton, she spent two years at an International High School in Osaka, Japan. There, she began her tutoring experience, and continued when she came back to the states for college at University of the Pacific.
Trina L. – Expert Tutor
Trina graduated from UC Santa Barbara with a double major in English Literature and Psychology. While there she accumulated three years of experience tutoring students from elementary school up to college level in subjects such as writing, math, and study skills. She also took an active role in multiple student organizations to help everyone feel represented and welcome on campus. She is passionate about helping people to live their best lives, whether through tutoring, mentorship, counseling or advocacy.
When she is not tutoring, Trina works at a non-profit in the Bay Area. She also loves writing, running, and eating great food with friends and family.
Matthew C. – Expert Tutor & College Admissions Specialist
Born and raised in the Bay Area, Matt earned his B.S. in biochemistry and molecular biology from the University of California, Davis in 2009. While there he received an award from the American Association for the Advancement of Science for his work in ecology, where he contributed to the study of microorganisms associated with intertidal isopods on the Eastern Pacific.
Matt became interested in tutoring in college while volunteering at his university’s tutorial center in order to help students struggling with often-rigorous math and science curriculum, and his passion for tutoring continued after graduation.
When not tutoring, Matt can often be found on the basketball court, soccer field, running, swimming or on his bicycle training for future triathlons. He is also an avid diver and spearfisherman, and his continuing interest in microbiology has recently steered him towards the art of brewing. When his legs hurt, sometimes he just sits down and plays the guitar, which he has been doing for over 12 years. He also never misses a Warriors game. Go dubs!
Isabella W. – Expert Tutor
Isabella graduated Magna Cum Laude from UCLA with a B.A. in History. During her time at UCLA, she worked as a new contributor for the Daily Bruin, and has had her work published in UCLA’s History Journal as well. She studied abroad in Spain for an intensive Spanish language course before graduation. She currently works as an editorial assistant in San Francisco, where she plans to pursue a career in writing and editing. In her spare time she is often writing or planning her next trip abroad.
Isabella’s main tutoring subjects are English (AP, Honors included), History (AP and honors included), Spanish, Geometry, and Writing. Having worked with students of all ages before, she loves finding the best approach to helping her students achieve success in their classes.
Josh G. – Expert Tutor
Josh is in his third year of study for a degree in Biological Sciences with a teaching emphasis. He has always had a love for the sciences, especially Biology and Chemistry, and looks forward to inspiring other students. He also enjoys tutoring mathematics, zoology, psychology, anatomy and physiology, and history. Josh has years of experience teaching students of all ages, and has a great ability to keep kids focused while learning difficult concepts. He looks forward to meeting with your students and helping them achieve their academic goals!
When not tutoring, Josh enjoys music, swimming, volunteering for seniors, drawing and creating art.
Eva M. – Expert Tutor
Born and raised in France, Eva has a Master’s Degree in Biology, along with a Forensics Certification earned in Aix-Marseille University. She also graduated from IUFM- France, and became an elementary teacher in 1997. For nearly 20 years, she has been teaching different levels in a variety of schools, with students with different needs who challenged her to adjust constantly her practices. Eva especially enjoys helping students learn French, Science, Biology and Chemistry using enthusiasm, experience and a large collection of tools to overcome any difficulties. She is patient and understanding of the difficulties the student may have.
In her spare time, Eva likes to travel, hike, cook and spend time with family and friends. She is fond of theatre and was part of an Improv Theatre Team for ten years.
Molly S. – Expert Tutor
Molly studied at the Academy of Art University, in San Francisco. She obtained a BFA in illustration. During her studies, Molly honed her skills in creative writing, written communication, and essay building. Since graduation, Molly has worked in the field of children’s media.
Molly has developed assets for children’s books and educational board games. Additionally, Molly has a strong understanding of language arts, reading, and writing. She has a great deal of experience in passing on her knowledge to others. In her spare time, Molly enjoys creating illustrations, bike riding, hiking, and spending time with her dog.
Katrina M. – Expert Tutor
Katrina graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Biological Science and a minor in chemistry. While in college, Katrina tutored college students with documented disabilities in a variety of subjects, including but not limited to, general chemistry, molecular biology, animal biology, genetics, organic chemistry, animal physiology, human anatomy and physiology, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, pre-calculus, statistics, philosophy, sociology, and English. Katrina also has experience as an AVID tutor during her high school years.
Katrina now works in the biotech industry as a laboratory technician and contributes to the development of a liquid biopsy assay utilizing Next Generation DNA Sequencing.
While Katrina is not working, she enjoys hiking, yoga, and volunteering at the Oakland Zoo as an Animal Care, Conservation, and Research Volunteer. Katrina is also active at her church and serves as a leadership and academic mentor.
Geoffrey G. – Expert Tutor and College Admissions Specialist
Geoffrey is a native San Franciscan who earned his J.D. from U.C. Hastings after getting his B.A. in Political Science from San Francisco State University. After passing the bar exam and beginning his legal career, Geoffrey quickly discovered that his passion lies more in the study of the law than in its day-to-day practice, and now plans to return to school to pursue a career in higher education.
Geoffrey has a wealth of experience teaching the SAT writing and reading sections to high-performing students. He also tutors students of all ages on English composition and grammar, U.S. and world history, U.S. government and economics, psychology, math, and the life sciences. Geoffrey believes that teaching students good study habits will pay dividends across all subject areas, and that every student is capable of excelling at any high school class, honors, AP, or otherwise, with the proper approach.
When he’s not working with students, Geoffrey can typically be found renovating the house he and his wife recently bought in Hayward. If she’s given him a day off, he will be on his computer, working on his latest novel manuscript, still hunting that elusive publishing deal.
Mitchell G. – Expert Tutor
Mitchell graduated from UC Santa Cruz with a BA in Biology. While at university, Mitchell worked for two years as a Resident Assistant, with a firm belief that hands on work and honesty is the best way to connect with people of all ages and backgrounds. He also interned in two labs, one at UCSC working on invertebrates from Cameroon, and the other at UCLA studying the behavior and neural networks of fruit flies. He also volunteered at Santa Cruz High School as a teacher’s aide in 9th and 10th grade Chemistry and Biology classrooms.
Originally hailing from Los Angeles, Mitchell has personally attended over 20 schools in both California and British Columbia and Ontario, Canada, so he believes in approaching students with an open mind and heart, having first hand experience with the diversity of individual students’ learning styles. Mitchell enjoys tutoring STEM subjects, including Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Environmental Science, as well as history and French.
On his off days, he enjoys hiking, practicing Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, rock climbing, writing poetry, playing video games, and sleeping in.
Kristen K. – Expert Tutor & College Admissions Specialist
Kristen has a Masters degree in inorganic chemistry from San Francisco State University, where she also earned her bachelor’s degree in chemistry and a minor in mathematics. Her previous work at UCSF and the Veterans Medical Center SF focused on using new technologies to sequence gene mutations in HIV and cancer cells. She also volunteers her time with Breast Cancer Action, a non-profit organization that aims to reduce Breast Cancer through environmental activism.
In her spare time she knits, reads fantasy novels and spends time on her sailboat with her dog.
Kara V. – Expert Tutor
Kara graduated from Woodbury University with a Bachelors of Architecture degree. While at Woodbury she went through leadership training where Kara learned how to work as a team to achieve common goals, how to deal with large responsibilities, and how to balance work and academics – all while remaining a positive example to others. In addition, Kara has plenty of experience tutoring and is confident in helping student in subjects of math, science, history, English and writing.
Kara is currently working as an Architectural Designer for a local firm. In her spare time she enjoys cooking, sewing, gardening and traveling.
Mallory V. – Expert Tutor
Mallory earned her Bachelor’s degree in Women’s Studies from San Jose State University and plans to get a Master’s degree in English. Mallory is passionate about students learning in all subjects. Mallory received her teaching credential in both English and Social Studies from Brandman University. She has two years of experience tutoring and teaching middle school students in English, Language Arts, and World and American History. She taught 8th grade U.S. History this year in Alameda County.
In her spare time, Mallory enjoys taking ballet classes and reading everything she can get her hands on.
Robin T. – Expert Tutor
Robin has the gift of encouragement, and realized years ago that she could use this gift as a teacher, tutor and counselor. It is her greatest joy to work with children of all ages by guiding and encouraging them to achieve their goals in and out of school. She loves to learn and believes that all people have the intrinsic desire to learn, to strive to be the best they can possibly be, and it is her life’s goal to direct and educate students to see the value of life with the utmost of importance. Robin’s adventure for learning started 20 years ago, as a daycare provider learning strategic preschool learning skills from Sesame Street Training through KQED. Upon completing a B.A. in Communication, Robin set her sites on becoming a teacher; therefore she continued until she achieved her goal with a Credential to teach and a Master’s in Cross Cultural Education. While raising three sons, substituting in the Pleasanton Unified School District for nine years put her into contact with all grade levels.
Her greatest passion is to have fun learning and trying everything she can and pass this JOY on to others.
Eric G. – Expert Tutor
Eric graduated from the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts having earned his Bachelor’s degree in Sociology. Eric was a four- year varsity D1 basketball player for the College of the Holy Cross. Eric has many years of experience working with youth, and his strengths consist of math, statistics, biology, Spanish, physics, psychology, history, and reading/writing. Eric believes that practice and preparation are essential tools in learning and becoming a better, more confident student.
In his spare time, Eric enjoys exercising and playing basketball. He also enjoys helping coach his little brothers on their soccer team, and visiting Disneyland with his family.
Samantha R. – Expert Tutor and College Admissions Specialist
Samantha is a Bay Area native who truly enjoys learning and teaching others. She has worked with children as a counselor, nanny, after school teacher and tutor, and preschool teacher. Helping children learn and grow is her passion. In order to help teach others Samantha decided to study a variety of subjects in college. She has five AA degrees (yes, FIVE!) in Humanities, Language Arts, Social Science, Liberal Arts, and Early Childhood Development. She graduated from Las Positas College in 2012 with highest honors in all five areas. She also spent time taking a variety of science classes focusing on biology, math, and chemistry. Additionally, Samantha is an advocate for quality early childhood education, working the Alameda County Child Care Planning Council to help ensure that all children have access to high quality education from the start.
In her spare time Samantha enjoys reading (especially science fiction), practicing the martial art Krav Maga, and exploring downtown Livermore.
Rohit R. – Expert Tutor & College Admission Specialist
Rohit has a master’s degree in economics from Boston University, and a bachelor’s in economics and history from UC Davis. While in college, Rohit wrote for the student newspaper, the California Aggie, and took notes on trials at the local courthouse. His strengths are math, English, writing, statistics, history, and economics. With experience tutoring students at all levels, he is dedicated to helping students succeed by giving them the tools to tackle problems on their own. Rohit especially enjoys tutoring economics, AP history, Spanish 1/2, general science, writing, and all levels of mathematics.
A Bay Area native, Rohit enjoys writing in his free time, and is currently working on a novel. He is also an avid reader, and enjoys spending time with family and friends.
Ashely P. – Expert Tutor
Ashley earned a B.S. in Biology from California State University Stanislaus and plans to continue on to graduate school. In college she worked as a tutor and an interpreter. She has many years of experience tutoring elementary school students to undergraduate students from the United States and other countries. Ashley enjoys helping students achieve academic success and building their self-confidence in their studies. In her free time she enjoys salsa dancing with her husband and spending time with friends and family.

Jessica A. – Operations Manager & Educational Consultant
Jessica, our truly amazing operations manager, graduated from California State University with a Bachelor’s in Psychology. She has volunteered with different organizations to help tutor students in a wide variety of subjects. She has years of experience with customer relations and is excellent at problem solving.
Jessica has been working with Pleasanton Tutoring for four years, often working behind-the-scenes on educational projects and tutor-client matching. She is a vital resource and a wealth of knowledge, and can help direct your student to a path of success. In her free time, Jessica enjoys swimming and hiking. She also enjoys spending time with her family and trying new restaurants.
